SUZANNE HIGHAM – Owner / Designer

Owner/Designer of Frog Hollow Landscapes, Suzanne Higham is an award winning landscape designer with more than 14 years of  professional experience in the design, installation, and maintenance of residential and commercial landscapes..

Suzanne is personable and easy to work with while being results and detail oriented.  These  qualities, with her knowledge and experience in the “Green” industry, allow her to develop and maintain beautiful and functional landscapes to meet the individual needs of her clients.

She received her formal education in landscape design from the Landscape Institute at Boston Architectural College and The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University.  Suzanne was the 2010 recipient of the New England Landscape and Design and History Association’s (NELDHA) Certificate of Merit for Professional Excellence for Researching, Executing, and Presenting an Independent Project as part of her graduate work at the Landscape Institute.

With an education and background in  public health, Suzanne chose a  thesis project that reflected  her interests in helping those in need while benefiting the wider community. The result was the design of a healing and therapeutic landscape encompassing the entire campus of the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home in Chelsea, Massachusetts.

While pursuing her formal landscape design education, Suzanne worked full-time in the landscape industry gaining hands-on experience in the many aspects required to create the best landscapes for her clients.

From her work at a large retail / wholesale nursery she gained extensive knowledge of landscape plants including trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.

From her work with a large full service landscape company Suzanne learned first-hand the proper installation of plants and the construction of hardscape features including walks, walls and patios. Here she honed her project management skills as crew leader.

With her love of horticulture, Suzanne gained additional hands-on experience in the fine gardening division of another leading north shore landscape company, learning the skills to maintain the health and year round beauty of designed landscapes.
